Brazil 2026/27 Harvest Update
Brazil’s 2026/27 crop is shaping up to be one of the largest on record. Uniform cherry development and favorable growing conditions are supporting expectations for excellent quality across key producing regions. At the same time, Sucafina’s sustainability programs continue to expand, with growing farmer participation and new initiatives focused on soil health, regenerative agriculture and carbon mapping.
Article at a glance
- Brazil’s 2026/27 crop is projected at 75.4 million bags, up 15.5% year-on-year.
- Arabica production is expected to reach 49.4 million bags (+26%)
- Robusta is forecast at 26 million bags (-0.3%).
- Sustainability programs are expanding, with more and more producers trained as part of our IMPACT initiatives.
Looking ahead to the 2026/27 harvest
The next Brazilian harvest cycle is expected to begin in March for Robusta and April for Arabica, with picking extending through July for Robusta and October for Arabica, depending on the region.
Current projections suggest a record crop of 75.4 million bags, supported by strong cherry development and favorable conditions during the growing season. Arabica production is expected to drive most of the increase, reaching an estimated 49.4 million bags, while Robusta output is projected at 26 million bags, broadly stable year on year. Uniform cherry ripening and larger bean sizes are already pointing to a promising quality outlook.
“The uniform ripening we’re seeing across many regions is encouraging and should support excellent cup quality in the upcoming harvest,” says Romulo Bueno, Field Research Manager in Sucafina Brasil. “Screen size development is also trending above average, which is another positive signal for the season.”
Weather remains the primary risk for producers. Periods of drought can affect bean development and flowering, while frost remains a concern in more vulnerable areas such as Southern Minas Gerais, Cerrado, São Paulo and Paraná, particularly during the critical June - July window.
“Climate variability is always the main challenge for Brazilian producers,” Romulo adds. “Dry spells or frost events can still impact the crop, so monitoring conditions throughout the season remains essential.” supply chain.
Farming for the future
Sustainability work continues to expand across Sucafina Brasil’s producing regions. In 2025, the Building Healthy Soils Project, developed with EMATER-MG through IMPACT, Sucafina’s sustainable program, trained more than 500 producers on soil health and regenerative agriculture. These participants represented over 50% of all producers trained through IMPACT.
“We’ve focused on creating collaborative spaces with producers to plan and implement more sustainable practices,” says Mariana Martins, Sustainability Manager at Sucafina Brasil. “The Building Healthy Soils Project is a strong example of how practical training can drive real progress in the field.”
Sucafina Brasil also contributed data from South Minas and Cerrado to the Sustainable Coffee Challenge carbon footprint study. The results will help shape future regenerative agriculture and carbon strategies across the supply chain.
Expanding IMPACT programs
Ongoing projects are also strengthening IMPACT’s presence across Brazil. In Espírito Santo, the Cultivating Rights Project: Promotion of Fair Work in Conilon is now in its second year, with actions including sanitation improvements, reforestation and water potability analysis.
At the same time, IMPACT groups in Matas de Minas, Bahia and Rondônia are now fully verified, reinforcing Sucafina Brasil’s presence across both Arabica and Robusta regions. More producers are expected to join the program in South Minas, Cerrado and Mogiana in 2026.
“Our IMPACT groups continue to grow in both scale and relevance,” says Martins. “That growth reflects a stronger connection between sustainability work and long-term commercial opportunity.”
