Jamaican Coffee - the Origin Story
The origins of Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee trace back to a decision made by a French king in the 18th century. In 1723, King Louis XV sent three coffee plants to Martinique, a fertile French colony located about 1,900 kilometers southwest of Jamaica. Five years later, in 1728, Sir Nicholas Lawes, the Governor of Jamaica, received a coffee plant as a gift from the Governor of Martinique. From that moment, the story of Jamaican coffee began to unfold.
