How you started in coffee – I studied food history and public policy in college. My senior year, I conducted a research project that examined the effects of Fairtrade certifications along the supply chain. I fell in love with the way the coffee industry is a microcosm for all the issues relating to ethics, supply chains, ecology and history that I had been studying. I found my first position at an importer working in QC and dabbling writing for their blog. And the rest, as they say,  is history!

What you love about coffee –  More than I can list! Most predominately, I love the scope of the coffee industry. Coffee is related to almost everything, and there’s always more to learn. In a single day, I can go from writing about the incredible work of a women’s cooperative in Rwanda, to talking to an ecologist about invasive insects on farms in Mexico, to learning about recent changes in the C market.

Your favorite hobby – That’d probably be a three-way tie between reading, baking and knitting.
